About

My name is Alex Gornicki, and this website is Something Else!

I am a graduate of the industrial design program at the Ontario College of Art & Design University (OCADU, formerly OCAD, formerly OCA….)

I grew up in Montreal, and have always loved to draw and to think about how things work. I’d meandered through a couple of post-secondary educations (including a diploma in Automotive Mechanics,) and found myself wondering just what to do with myself. A friend of mine I’d met in CEGEP was studying illustration at OCAD (as it was then known) and I liked what he was doing, and decided to apply.

I chose industrial design because I was cocky and young, figured I didn’t need training in illustration (I am self-taught) and that there would be a steady job in [what I imagined to be] industrial design when I would graduate.

For the moment, jobs are hard to come by, so here’s Something Else.
